July 28, 2013 - Sunday Vigil

I joined Sue at the 3:00 p.m. Vigil.  It was one of those typical Michigan weather days -- cool, sunny, pouring rain, bright sunshine, and then clouds.  We didn't let the rain stop us from walking the sidewalk in prayer.  With umbrellas held high, we said the Rosary and the Chaplet; offering all our prayers up for anyone involved in abortion, along with asking that the Holy Spirit to strengthen and encourage all prayer warriors throughout the 40 Days for Life campaigns.  It was a quiet prayer vigil and definitely a blessing to be able to speak up for the unborn in prayer and share heart prayers with a friend.  (Maribeth)

July 25, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

It was a very quiet evening at the clinic tonight, a couple of smiles and one "get a life" -- and I am so thankful that I do have a wonderful life from God and that in my life I am able to pray for others.

I prayed the Chaplet for:
  • all involved in abortion--that their hearts be changed to celebrate LIFE!
  • all those men and women who would be entering this abortion clinic tomorrow (and all clinics around the world)--that they would realize LIFE is a gift and that their baby was picked by God just for them!
  • our dedicated prayer warriors--that God would bless them with strength, health, joy, and perseverance in this battle for LIFE!
  • our upcoming 40 Days for Life campaign--that many would join us as we speak the truth and share the love of Jesus with all we meet!
  • our country--that we would turn back to God and seek His forgiveness for our selfish and prideful ways so we could, once again, truly BE A NATION UNDER GOD!
Thank you God for this quiet time with You and thank You or hearing our heartfelt prayers from wherever we are -- blessings to Jenny and Christine.  (Maribeth)

July 18, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

I was the sole prayer warrior tonight (missed you Jenny and Christina!).  The rain was coming down pretty hard so I arrived a wee bit late to the clinic--and as I pulled in, the sky became a beautiful blue with peek-a-boo clouds and sun.  The rain did cool it off for a little while.  As I walked up and down the sidewalk, it was a very calm and quiet night. A few people passed by on the sidewalk and smiled...one biker waved.  Praying on my own makes me dwell more intensely on what will be happening at that clinic on Friday morning.  I asked God for His grace on all those who enter the doorway and that the Holy Spirit keeps all the prayer warriors safe and strengthened.  There are moments that I just cannot believe we allow this evil of killing human life...what the heck is wrong with us in telling vulnerable women a lie!

As my time came to a close at the clinic, a group of young middle eastern boys (in a car) were pulling out of the clinic driveway...several of them leaned out the window, said something (I was too far away to hear) and then spit on the ground.  I'm guessing it wasn't a nice gesture!  Then, two ladies in a car drove past me in the parking lot...looked at my sign "The Cost of Abortion...with the three smiling babies" and didn't even flinch...their mouths were so down-turned in unhappiness.  I feel so bad for them -- they seemed like all their joy was gone.  So sad.

It was a peaceful night of prayer -- and I am ever-thankful for the opportunity of having had the chance to cover that little piece of ground in holy prayers!  (Maribeth)

July 11, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

I faced WomanCare abortion mill, blest myself with holy water & sprinkled a bit on the ground around me then began all the opening prayers offering this prayer vigil for all involved in abortion in any way.  Maribeth arrived  ~ yeah!!! We walked along the grass area as she continued the opening prayers then led the Holy Rosary reading a brief Glorious  Mystery before each Hail Mary.

Traffic was heavy & we got lots of happy honks, smiles & waves & a negative ~ a man with his thumb down. He rolled his window down & said "that's just not right."  I said, "praying that moms & dads won't have their babies killed is just not right???"  He said "yes & gave the thumbs down gesture again."  I motioned that I would pray for him as he drove away.  Maribeth & I said a prayer for his hardened heart.

When Maribeth left for her Right to Life meeting I sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy especially for abortion doctors to see the evil they are doing. Doctors are supposed to save!!! life not take!!! it.  A young couple stopped by & talked to me for a bit.  They said "what you're doing is wrong."  I said "praying for the unborn is wrong?"  They said "yes, you're wrong."  Then as they drove away the girl held up her finger. I said a prayer for that terribly misguided young couple as they turned down the street one block over. So they must live in this area... good!!! They will see that we PW's are NOT going away. We MUST be the voice for the precious, little, helpless unborn boys & girls who have no rights in America or our world right now... this must!!! change!!! one person at a time.   Lots more happy honks & waves from folks driving by as I closed out the prayer vigil with the Pledge of Allegiance looking at our beautiful flag. I am so thankful I'm an American & have the freedom to be out here in peaceful prayer for the unborn. Folks are being killed for their faith in lots of places in our world. Lord, help us stand strong for You!!! in this culture of death.  Help us be a light for the world to see. Amen!!!  (Jenny)

July 4, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA - 237 YEARS OLD!
 (a prayer from Christianity.About.Com)
On this Independence Day I am reminded of all those who have sacrificed for my freedom, following the example of your Son, Jesus Christ. Let me not take my freedom, both physical and spiritual, for granted. May I always remember that my freedom was purchases with a very high price. My freedom cost others their very lives.

Lord, today, bless those who have served and continue to give their lives for my freedom. With favor and bounty meet their needs and watch over their families.
Help me to live my life in a way that glorifies you, Lord. Give me the strength to be a blessing in someone else's life today, and grant me the opportunity to lead others into the freedom that can be found in knowing Christ. Amen.

So many positives during our prayer vigil on the 4th. Really makes us on-site PW's realize that our being out there is an important part to end the evil of abortion.  When I first arrived, a young mom & her two preteens walked by with smiles & I gave them each a little flag & Baby Jesus Prayer card.

For all our pro-life intentions that Christine had mentioned, she led Maribeth & I in the opening prayers, then the Holy Rosary, reading a Sorrowful Mystery before each Hail Mary. Then for all abortion doctors & their staffs, she led the Chaplet of Divine Mercy with Saint Faustina's meditations on the Passion before each decade.  A young man stopped his car & gave us the thumbs up & said "abortion is going to end." We said "yes, because of all you young pro-lifers." As Maribeth said, "it is so good to see young men & women who really get it - really get what abortion is all about. Then Christine read a few pages from our Family Prayers, Reflections & Songs booklet.

For our one negative drive-by screamer "get a life" I held up my rosary toward his car until he was out of sight as Maribeth was saying what better way to spend a little part of your life each week then to pray in front of an abortion mill.  We said a little prayer that the Holy Spirit would enlighten that man's soul with God's truth & light. We ended our vigil with the Pledge of Allegiance looking at the big, beautiful flat on the other side of the street then sang two America songs. (Jenny)

June 27, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

Wow, as I left home for the prayer vigil, it was raining so strong I could hardly see out the front window & it sounded like teensy pieces of hail were hitting my car, but no marks, so I guess it was just the rain pounding down. I parked facing WomanCare abortion mill & called Maribeth to let her know that we would pray in my car until the lightning stopped.  I blest myself with holy water & started saying the opening prayers. Maribeth arrived...yeah!!!  She finished leading all the opening prayers & then led the Holy Rosary reading a brief Luminous Mystery before each Hail Mary. Every 15 minutes or so it seemed like the rain was slowing down then bam!!! we saw a big flash of lightning, so we ended up just praying from my car.  A couple of the real big flashes looked like they hit behind the abortion mil when I had first arrived, really frightening.

For all abortionists, she led the Chaplet of Divine Mercy & it was 7pm & our prayer vigil was ended.  We PW's don't mind the rain but when the sky is flashing so much & it looks like its hitting the ground all around that area, it's best to stay safe in your car. I had my pro-lief sign with my three little babies facing out the back window for folks who would drive by so I'm sure they knew we were in there praying for the unborn.    (Jenny)

June 20, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

I faced WomanCare abortion mill, blest myself with holy water & sprinkled a bit on the ground & started out with the opening prayers. Maribeth arrived...yeah!!!  We began our walk along the grass area & after a little bit, two more PW's arrived, Julie & Clare from St. Therese of Lesieux Church...yeah!!! We took turns leading the Holy Rosary reading a brief Joyful Mystery before each Hail Mary & after a little bit another PW arrived, Matthew... yeah!!! Clare added to our pro-life prayer intentions blessings on the No Taxes For Abortion petition drives going on all over which they planned to attend after the prayer vigil.

When we finished the Holy Rosary, Matthew led the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, offering it up especially for the conversion of all abortion doctors & their staffs.  Julie & Clare had to leave a bit early to attend the Petition Drive @ Faith Lutheran Church in Troy with hopes that many pro-lifers are getting the word out that we must remember, abortion is NOT healthcare... most certainly not for the baby & it wounds the parents a well as we have heard all these years from so very many postabortive men & women who tell the sad stories. But with light in their eyes, they also tell us that our God is such a healing God for these folks humbly ask Him to forgive their sin of abortion & the healing that they tell us about is so awesome.

Maribeth, Matthew & I closed with the Pledge of Allegiance looking at our beautiful American flag. Lord, help our land heal from our many, many sins. Amen!!!

Our pro-life signs continue to spread the word that this evil must stop & we experienced many positives again, waves, smiles, happy honks, thumbs up out of one driver's moon roof... that made us laugh & nods of approval & smiles from those walking past our little group of PW's really makes you humble. As always, we prayed for the couple of negatives we received that their hurting hearts will feel better soon.

Please join us out there in peaceful prayer when you are able... it is such a great blessing!!!  (Jenny)
