August 22, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

This Thursday was an awesome prayer vigil with Christine & Maribeth. For the few negatives we received, positives were sent our way right away ~ a young man drove by with "the #1 sign" to us. He got caught at the light, so I was able to hold up my rosary & the peace sign & pray for the conversion of his hardened heart all those minutes. Right away  a young man drove by & said "God bless you" with a big smile.  A young couple pulled up along side of our prayer area wagging their finger at us & shaking their head "no" to us. I said "is it wrong that we are praying for the unborn?."  No reply from the couple, just the negative shaking of their heads & wagging their finger at us "no." They definitely don't get it... that the abortion doctors are the ones going against God's law, Thou shalt not kill!!! Right away a car passed us with a peace sign from the passenger & a big smile.  The positives toward our little prayer group continued all through the prayer hour, so great to know that most folks get what abortion really is & that we PW's are doing what God asks of all of us to be out there in peaceful prayer for the unborn.

After blessing ourselves with holy water & sprinkling a bit on the ground, Christine read all the opening prayers & then led the Holy Rosary reading a brief Sorrowful Mystery meditation before each Hail Mary.  Then she led the Chaplet of Divine Mercy using the booklet with St. Faustina's meditations on The Passion. It was a warm evening with a gentle breeze so we just stood on the grass area by the abortion mill facing traffic in both ways so they could see our signs "Pray to End Abortion " & "The Cost of Abortion" signs with those three darling babies smiling at all who passed us by. I truly believe that those little ones are touching many hearts regarding the evil that abortion is doing to our world. We offered up our prayer vigil for all involved with abortion in any way.  We PW's will!!! bring our world back to following God's laws, one person at a time. (Jenny)

We also had two cars who wanted to donate money to our cause -- how generous! We told them thank your for the offer, but that we would rather have their "donation" be prayers for the unborn and money given to pregnancy help centers. It warmed our hearts to see such loving and giving people who support our efforts. Thank You God--may these souls be blessed!  (Maribeth)

August 15, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

This evening, I blest myself with holy water, sprinkled a bit on the ground around me & slowly walked along the grass area underneath the shade of the trees to the traffic light & back to face the abortion mill. I said all my opening prayers & offered up my prayer hour for all involved in abortion in any way.  I sang the Our Fathers & Hail Marys of the Holy Rosary reading a brief Luminous Mystery before each Hail Mary.  Then I sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy especially for the conversion of abortion doctors. My heart was hurting because I could not stop thinking about what these abortion doctors do.  I just cannot image how they can pull out tiny feet, hands, legs, arms & heads of those little children from their mother's womb.  I was sad knowing that this would be happening tomorrow/Friday morning at this abortion mill & my heart was really hurting for all those mothers who think they have no other choice.  O Lord, please hear my prayers for them to receive Your truth about the blessing of LIFE that you have given to their little unborn children!!! Singing the Chaplet of Divine Mercy was my way of asking the Lord to touch the hearts & souls of these doctors who are supposed to be FOR LIFE but instead they are taking life, unbelieveable what is being done because of greed by these doctors.  This is so very sad.  However... we PW's are going to be out there in peaceful prayer for as long as it takes to stop the legal killing of unborn babies.

A young man walking by smiled at me after he looked at the three little babies on my sign "The Cost of Abortion" & nodded his head in approval.  Another young man was stopped at the light & I'm sure he could hear me singing the Hail Marys on my Holy Rosary & He was holding onto his Rosary that was hanging from his rearview mirror... that was cool!!! Three young boys riding their bikes by all nodded & smiled at me. No negatives this evening, just a very peaceful, prayer time for me to remember all the little ones who have been killed & have gone Home to be with our Lord as well as praying for all the little ones who are in danger of being killed at that abortion mill. Jesus, protect & save the helpless unborn & heal our sinful world. Amen!!! I closed my prayer vigil looking at our beautiful flag & said the Pledge of Allegiance. I'm still very busy with work but it is a great break to be out here in the warm weather praying for babies.  (Jenny)

August 8, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

Prayer to the Holy Spirit, Giver of Life
(priestsforlife.org)
Come Holy Spirit, Creator of all things...You who breathed over the waters at the dawn of creation and brought forth all living beings...You who filled the apostles when the Risen Lord breathed on them on the first Easter night, giving them the power to restore life to those dead in sin...You who, on the last day, will breathe again over all the dead and raise them from the grave--Come! Come and breathe on our world again, immersed as it is in the Culture of Death! Come, O Lord and Giver of Life! Defeat the works of death in our midst, that abortion may no longer stain our land.  We worship You, O Holy Spirit, and we rejoice in You. We know that no matter how strong the forces of death may be, we can still find in You the endless source of life. Renew that life in each of us, and make us worthy apostles of the Culture of Life in our day! Amen.

I have not been able to pray on-site for a few weeks so it was so great to pray with Richard, Christine & Maribeth. Richard led the Holy Rosary & Chaplet then we all took turns reading from our 40 days for Life Booklet & ended with the Pledge of Allegiance. We were able to talk to a young woman who stopped by to ask, in her slow, gentle voice, "don't you all have something better to do." After talking to us & hearing about all the positive things we hear from folks passing by, pregnant women, postabortive women, postabortive men, she said "I guess it's good that you are out here." So that was a beautiful blessing for us!!! (Jenny)

August 1, 2013 - Thursday Vigil

It was a peaceful prayer time at the clinic -- Richard, Sue, Susan and myself prayed the Chaplet, lifting up our heart prayers for the unborn and all those who don't see life as a gift from our Creator.  We were especially thankful for Susan being able to join us -- thank You God for Your comfort for Susan as she continues to seek treatment and healing.  It was also such a blessing to see that Richard (and his wife Marsha) returned safely from his trip out west.  Thank You Lord!!!

Just a few odd remarks from the public tonight.  One man drove by and told us "Get Over It.  It's Real."  Well, that IS why we are out there praying...it is real, and it is taking lives!  I'm not sure how on just "gets over" something.  Killing a child isn't something you just "get over."  We prayed for that man--asking the Holy Spirit to open his eye to the truth.

Another young man was too chicken to talk to us directly.  He waiting until he was past us, then put down his backseat window to yell something.  It was inaudible...but we were pretty sure it wasn't a positive sentence.  Again, we prayed for his awareness of the gift of life.

At the end of our prayer hour we said the Pledge of Allegiance and gave thanks for our privilege of being able to be out there to pray together.  Sue, Susan, and I were excited to meet Jenny for dinner, too.  The four of us girls were truly blessed to share a meal and prayers together.  Thank You God for all of Your goodness.  Duh...I forgot to take a picture of all of us!  Next time!  (Maribeth)
