Day 22 - March 6, 2013

I blest myself with holy water & shared it with Christine who led us in opening prayers.  Maribeth joined us as we continued the opening prayers. Then Christine led us in the Holy Rosary & Chaplet of Divine Mercy for all the intentions she had mentioned at the start of the prayer vigil. We slowly walked to & from WomanCare abortion mill holding our Pray to End Abortion signs & Lady of Guadalupe candle. The weather man had said it was warming up & it did a bit but please know that you all still need to dress in layers to be out in prayer for an hour; no good to get sick from this changing Michigan weather. Baby beeps were heard as folks drove by & a "? you" from a drive by screamer. We decided to take it as a bless you... not ____  you, as we could not really understand what was said. We ended with the Pledge of Allegiance looking at our big, beautiful flag on the other side of the street. You will see that Shawn has mentioned our PW's in his Day 22 update. Thx Shawn!!! (Jenny)

Day 21 - March 5, 2013

I like to listen to Karen's CD when I'm driving to the abortion mill. Her songs put you in a peaceful mood & her voice is so beautiful!!! I got there & a PW was standing facing traffic in prayer & it was Karen!!! How about that?!?!? It was so good to see her!!!. We hugged hello & she finished her rosary as I faced the clinic & began the opening prayers for the 6pm prayer vigil. She left a little after that & was quite frozen & I almost did the same thing at 5:30 when I was getting ready to pray. The sun was out & it seemed like a warm night & I wasn't going to dress that warm, but I changed my mind & dressed in my usual layers & I am soooo glad I did. After Karen left, I began walking along the grass area & it was a bit windy & cold!!! I prayed for all involved in abortion in any way as I said/sang the Holy Rosary reading a brief Sorrowful Mystery before each Hail Mary. Heard happy honks & a couple of drive by screamers "pro choice" "woman's choice". I just said a prayer for each young man that they would realize that they are talking about a little tiny baby... not a choice!!! Then a man walked over the snow pile & said he wanted to let us know that he is 100% for what we are doing out there. He said he was from St. Mary Margaret I think but not sure. Anyways, I thanked him & gave him an info packet so he can check out the main website & ours as well. I thanked him again for taking time out of his evening to stop & talk & give up his support to us prayer warriors & that we really!!! appreciated it. If he was dressed warmer, I would have had him lead some prayers but he just had a light jacket on. Hopefully, he will stop when he sees others out there praying & will join them. 

I then sang the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, especially for abortion doctors as well as for those who drive by & yell. If they only would not be so cowardly & would take a moment to just talk to us, they would see that we are simply praying for the woman's choice to be life for her baby not death. I closed the vigil with the Pledge of Allegiance & my fingers felt frozen but warmed up in few minutes when I got into my car. No matter what the pro-abortion side says, we ARE making a difference out there just peacefully praying. (Jenny)

Day 20 - March 4, 2013

Last night I was blest with two PW's joining me, Christine & Susan. The cold weather continued but we walked back forth in peaceful prayer for the unborn. We were thankful for the happy honks of approval & said a prayer for the drive-by screamers "kill babies." These young men are so mixed up!!! May they obtain the grace to leave the culture of death & live in God's truth & light. As we left, I told Susan that we will all keep her in our prayers as she begins her chemo again. (Jenny)

Day 19 - March 3, 2013

3:00 p.m. Family Prayer Vigil

Yes...it is still winter in Michigan--but the sunshine was a blessing as we gathered for the 3:00 p.m. Family Prayer Vigil.  Sue had us reflect on the story of Moses -- how he was protected and saved by purposeful choices.  We, too, need to make purposeful choices for life as we go about our day-to-day tasks.  We read a couple of beatitudes and pondered some very wise words from Mother Teresa (below), which encouraged us in this battle for life.  We sang the song "All Are Welcome" and prayed that this would be true in our society--that each human being would be welcomed and respected.  Our vigil ended with the Pledge of Allegiance and warm hearts.  (Maribeth)

6:00 p.m. Prayer Vigil

Cold weather continues, 26 & a smidge breezy this evening. I faced WomanCare abortion mill & said a couple opening prayers after blessing myself with holy water & sprinkling a bit on the ground around me. Then started my walk toward the traffic light slowly as I said more opening prayers. Christine arrived...yeah!!! She took over reading the rest of the opening prayers & I held my Pray to End Abortion facing traffic as we walked along the grass/snow area. Maribeth arrived...yeah!!! Christine offered up our pro-life intentions for the evening & led us in the Holy Rosary reading a brief Sorrowful Mystery before each Hail mary. We sang the usual three intentions after each decade. Then for the abortion doctors she led us in the Chaplet of Divine Mercy with St. Faustina's meditations on The Passion. Hearing how Jesus suffered sure helps to offer up our chills. We ended our Prayer Vigil with the Pledge of Allegiance, freezing fingers & toes but totally warm hearts for the unborn we had offered up prayers for during that hour. Heard happy honks throughout the night on this cold but peaceful Sunday night. (Jenny)

Day 18 - March 2, 2013

Morning Prayer Vigil

Yes it was cold, but the faithful prayer warriors were not deterred.  Regina the heartiest of all was praying and witnessing all 3 hours.  There were never less than three prayer warriors, sometimes a whole string six of them!

We were grateful that Richard had cleaned the ice and snow, we had a safer place on the side walk, rather than the edge of the parking lot!  Leaving at 2::00pm my feet warmed up at 5:00pm. I say this only because I was only there 2 hours
not three as was Regina.  Let us give thanks to God for our fearless, devoted prayer warriors.

This is the month of St. Joseph.  He was entrusted with the care and protection of Jesus and Mother Mary so how about we ask his intercession for the safety of babies around the world who are threatened by abortion.  May fathers of babies in the womb protect their children at all cost and sacrifice.  Let us remember that flight into Egypt  Joseph took to keep the HOLY FAMILY safe.

Not a word from Joseph in the Gospels. His actions spoke louder than words.  In God we trust.  (Sue)



6:00 p.m. Prayer Vigil

Another cold night tonight!!! After I blest myself with holy water & sprinkled a bit on the ground around me & said the opening prayers facing WomanCare abortion mill,I had to put on Mike's gloves over mine as my fingers were already starting to burn. I then faced traffic with my Pray to End Abortion sign hanging from my arm & started the Holy Rosary meditating on the Joyful Mysteries before each Hail Mary. To keep warm, I walked to the traffic light. I stood there a bit & the young lady in the car stopped for the light looked over, read my sign & waved with a smile. That was nice. I walked some more & as it was dark, stayed under the street light so I could read my Rosary booklet. I had my Rosary hanging from my wrist with my flashlight shining down on it & I heard happy honks now & then. My fingers were really burning as I began the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for especially abortion doctors. I closed with America the Beautiful & said the Pledge of Allegiance. I kept thinking about that young priest yesterday afternoon wasn't wearing gloves & was offering it up so I did the same thing again tonight. I prayed again for Pope BXVI as well as those who will elect our new pope. (Jenny) 

Day 17 - March 1, 2013

So glad I was bundled up -- it was 27 & really windy!!! I faced WomanCare abortion mill, blest myself with holy water & sprinkled a bit on the ground around me. For all involved in abortion in any way, I opened with The Prayer for the Helpless Unborn & for all on-site PW's & HPW's I said the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. Christine arrived...yeah!!! She took over reading the rest of the opening prayers & I held my Pray to End Abortion sign as we faced traffic huddled together on the grass/snow in front of a huge pile of plowed snow which kept the wind off of us a bit, but it was really!!! cold.. Yes Grams, we offered it up for the end of abortion... :o)

Christine then led us in the Holy Rosary reading a brief Sorrow Mystery meditation before each Hail Mary & after each decade we sang: Jesus, protect & save the helpless unborn & heal our sinful world. Jesus, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom, O Jesus remember me when You come into Your Kingdom. Ave, Ave, Ave Maria. Ave, Ave, Ave Maria. Anybody who prays with me knows we sing as many prayers as possible. Someone said when you sing prayers you are blest twice & we need all God's blessings we can get to help us stay strong on the front lines of this battle with the evil one to save the precious little ones in the womb. Next, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy was offered up for especially the abortion doctors & if that man who left the abortion mill was the doctor, most especially for him ~ not sure who he was but just wanted to make sure our Chaplet was said especially for the doctor who will be taking over the evil procedure done in that office.

We then faced our beautiful American flag & said the Pledge of Allegiance. Three blessings were sent my way today. 1) While driving around doing errands, I stopped by to the abortion mill to say The Prayer for the Helpless Unborn in my car & saw there was a group of PW's with young Father Phil leading them in prayer, Jill, Richard, Donna a few other adults & some children, soooo I had to stop to join them & Father was just starting the Holy Rosary, how about that!!! As I was not dressed for the cold weather, it was a real blessing to offer up the chill I was feeling for the unborn babies, their moms & dads, & it was soooo worth it. I said my goodbyes to all & thanked that darling, young priest for his pro-life example to us all & continued on with my errands. 2) Christine joined me at the 6pm Prayer Vigil, so I did not have to be the lone PW out there. 3) I was able to attend the First Friday Service at St. Malachy with the Stations of the Cross at 7pm followed by the Holy Rosary, Chaplet & other prayers, especially for our Holy Father Benedict XVI as he now lives the rest of his life in prayer for all of us in this world. Thank you, Fr. Joe, for the beautiful First Friday Devotions you offer at St. Malachy each month & thank you Rosemarie, Karen, Eva & all who lead us in prayer. You truly help to make that time there in front of the Blessed Sacrament such a special, peaceful, blest time in adoration of Our Lord.

Thank you, Shawn, for the info about the pro-choice folks who sometimes stand with us pro-life folks. You are so right when you say that being there with the pro-abortion folks will most definitely prove to them that we are there in peaceful prayer for the unborn, not terrorists as some of the media want the world to think. I look on the negatives that happen when I'm out there each night as a good way to show those going by that sincere, loving, peaceful, prayerful vigils that are going on for the unborn.  (Jenny)

Day 16 - February 28, 2013

When I arrived, Lisa & Benny were finishing their 5pm Prayer Vigil.  We talked for a bit about the plans being made for next year's March for Life bus trip from this area. I plan to go as well as other PW's so we should have a nice group speaking up for the end of abortion in Wash DC next year. (I wonder if the press will cover it next year???) I guess 650,000 folks peacefully praying, marching for the unborn wasn't newsworthy in the eyes of some of our "media" this year.  EWTN sure did do some excellent coverage & with email, twitter, facebook, etc,  I'm sure the truth got out that the majority of Americans are not!!! ok with killing babies in the womb. Lord, help our country!!!

Maribeth joined me... yeah!!! & we finished the rest of the prayers as we walked along the sidewalk which is not!!! clear in some parts. Huge piles of snow are plowed but 3/4 of the sidewalk is covered with these piles so I sure do hope the kids & everyone who is walking here is looking out back & forth for cars driving to the various stores because some of them drive really!!! fast. Every time we got to a big puddle or huge pile of snow I would turn completely around to check out for cars driving up behind us.  We talked a little about the March for Life next year & really do think there will be a good group going from this area. We said the Rosary, with a brief Luminous Mystery before each Hail Mary & sang our three short prayers after each decade.  We prayed for all involved in abortion in any way this evening.  There were lots of happy honks & waves toward us. To close our vigil, we faced the beautiful American flag & said the Pledge of Allegiance.  My fingers were freezing so it was good to get warmed up in the car. I picked up my carry out from My Pizza Place (greek salad & cheese stick & dipping sauce... so excellent!!!) & warmed up totally on the way home.  (Jenny)
