When we arrived for our 6:00 p.m. vigil, Nastasija and several of her friends from Our Lady of Czestochowa, along with Linda (a new prayer warrior this campaign), were there praying -- finishing up their 1 1/2 hour prayer vigil. We said a few prayers together before they had to leave.
What an absolutely gorgeous evening for our 6:00 p.m. prayer time! One of the nice things about great weather while praying at the clinic is it brings out lots of people -- not just prayer warriors, but the public. We certainly cause people to think when they have to walk by us; some smile and nod, some say "God bless you," some totally ignore us, and some have the nerve to say ungodly things to us (we didn't get this one tonight though, whew!). During our prayer time we had lots of waves and thumbs up...an elderly couple, walking on the other side of the street, yelled over "Pro-Choice" -- I thought that was odd -- or I guess I am just not used to seeing older people act that way. We also had a young girl scream out of her car "I love abortion" -- again, just like a couple days ago, why on God's green earth would you even say those words??? There were several families who walked by -- we exchanged smiles. A couple other people were very stoic as they passed, sad that they couldn't even return a smile...but they did see our signs and hear our prayers! We had an African-American woman and her daughter stop us for directions...as we were helping her out, her young daughter (12-14) gave us a big smile and pointed to our signs and then gave us a big thumb up -- yea! We praised God for letting us be ministers of His truth out on the sidewalk today. (Maribeth)
