The weather was iffy -- calling for severe storms -- but it definitely held out for our 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. prayer vigils (thank You Jesus!). Jenny and I closed out Nick and Frank's time with the prayer for the Helpless Unborn and then we began our prayers--along with Christine and Regina. Even with the ominous conditions, there were plenty of passersby -- some friendly, but most in their own world and very unfriendly, but that is okay because we continue to smile. (On Nick's watch, it has been noticed how disrespectful some of the youth can be--let us keep them in our prayers and hope that one day they "get it" and see that life is truly a gift!)
Christine offered up our prayerful focus and read the contemplations for each decade of the Rosary. We could feel a few sprinkles from Heaven, and were prepared to make the mad dash for the umbrellas, but nothing came of the droplets. We had lots of encouragement from the drivers tonight and most of our sidewalk-sharers were furry and four-legged -- that made us smile!
A younger woman drove by and yelled "unless he is perfect, let him not cast the first stone." We assumed that she has felt the pain of abortion. It is truly sad some think we are judging the women who choose abortion. NEVER! That is God's job!! We are only judging the sinful action and praying that women choose LIFE for their baby; and most women who make that choice only do because they have been sold the great lie--that it is a lump of tissue and "it" won't feel a thing and "it's" not even a baby yet. Too bad that these people who "don't get it" don't stop to talk with us and find out what we are there for...prayer....and that we pray for them, too!
A van pulled over and the man and woman just wanted to say 'God bless you." How nice of them to take the time to encourage us prayer warriors like that. We had a nice pro-life talk with them & we gave them a 40 Days for Life flyer & two Baby Jesus prayer cards which they loved. We then finished with Christine leading the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for all the doctors who are killing these little pre-born babies... may they hear God speak to them in their dreams.
Joe, a fellow prayer warrior and owner of Snickers (our furry prayer warrior who came out to pray with us a few days before), drove up to the clinic to tell us of the pending weather warnings of a confirmed a tornado that touched down in Dexter and more severe weather was on its way. We were so thankful for Joe's head's up and thinking about us at the clinic. We only had about 15 minutes remaining; we prayed for safety and kept a watchful eye to the sky. We closed our hour with singing How Great Though Art...and offered thanksgiving prayers for such a wonderful evening of prayer for the unborn and asked for healing for all prayer warriors who are going through a valley.
